Well 2020 is a year we'll all remember.
For me it's the first year of my new business. I have spent this year setting up my picture framing workshop, having trained in picture framing at the Ludlow Castle Gallery with the wonderful Giles who has over 30 years experience in Framing.
During those early days of lockdown I started to explore the personalised aspect of picture framing, buying the equipment, training, learning my craft and researching suppliers.
I love the framing process, from choosing the frames and mount that best suits, to cutting the moulding, underpinning to make a rigid frame, the pleasure of a perfectly cut mount, cutting the glass (although this scared me at first!!), cleaning the glass, inserting the glass, mount and picture and adding the cut-to-size backing board, inserting the framing points, taping the back and finally adding the method of hanging. It truly is a labour of love, a handcrafted, bespoke product. My favourite part? the final product - I can't wait to show our new customers!
I now have a number of samples that you can check out on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
I wanted to establish a local bespoke service, home appointments if required, flexible times to suit and local deliveries.
So now it's December, the second lockdown is over and the run up to Christmas is in full flow so what a time to open our doors!
